The (alleged) gruesome killing of American journalist James Foley can be blamed on several things; but always remember that the person who committed the crime bears the most responsibility.
Having said that, it seems the U.S. made an attempt to rescue James Foley and other American captives from the clutches of ISIS, but they failed due to bad intelligence.
“Intelligence is not a perfect science,” the senior official said. As to how the intelligence failed and why the hostages were not there, the official said, “The truth is, we don’t know. And that’s the truth. When we got there, they weren’t there. We don’t know why that is.”
Uh, that’s not very reassuring. If the Security State claims it must abridge our civil liberties to keep us safe by spying on us, but then doesn’t actually seem capable of getting accurate information-what are they doing with all that information they collect?
When ISIS marched into Iraq and started taking territory, the U.S. claimed to be shocked, I tell you, shocked. Since the CIA trained ISIS, you would think they would keep better track of their mercenaries. Besides, don’t satellites glide overhead constantly taking photos of absolutely everything? How did they miss that big fleet of white Toyota pickups kicking up dust crossing the desert?
The chemical weapons attack last year in Syria was blamed on Assad in the most vehement terms. No question about his guilt, they had the intelligence. Except they didn’t. They had a video that was convincing to the average viewer, but not to the above-average viewer, like Mother Agnes, a nun in Syria who investigated onsite and boldly said the “rebels,” not Assad did the gas stack. She even wrote up a report and sent it to the UN. The UN independently concluded that the rebels probably did the gas attack, yet the U.S. almost went to war-AGAIN-on shite intelligence.
The same shite intelligence was applied to the downing of Flight H17 in Ukraine. Putin! Putin the monster! The heartless bastard. The “intelligence” seemed to mostly come from the usual propaganda factory, plus good old Youtube. Putin immediately began demanding an impartial international investigation and transparent sharing of information.
As it turns out, bullet holes are plainly visible on the plane’s fuselage; i.e. it was shot down by another plane. Who had another plane near the doomed airliner? Only Ukraine- and that evidence is solid. Expect this story to get swept down the memory hole-unless Maylasia raises hell-and they might! They tried Bush and Blair for war crimes and found them guilty in 2011.
So the question is, just how shite is CIA intelligence? Are they really shite or are they making stuff up as they go along to follow the political agenda? I mean we expect intelligence, not shite from such a very costly agency. Nobody knows how costly, of course.
