“I’ve got these rules I live by. Rule Number One: I don’t believe anything the government tells me.” George Carlin
We all say that, and I’ll be darned, we turn right around and believe what the government tells us. They tell us through the mainstream news, they tell us what to believe, over and over and over, as if, as Lenin said, a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth. The scary question is: Does it?
Or maybe it’s just me, because I totally bought that Putin, Assad, and Ahmadinejad are beasts, the devil incarnate, bloodthirsty vampires minus the sex appeal. Didn’t Ahmadinejad say Israel should be wiped off the face of the map? No, as it turns out, he never said that, as Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister admitted.
Hmm…wonder what other lies have been repeated until they became “truth?” It’s always good to let people speak for themselves, I thought, so I watched interviews of these three guys, read their speeches and Putin’s Manifesto.
Ahmadinejad is a college professor? Who was opposed to taking hostages from the American embassy way back when he was a student activist? He is not a ravening jihadi bent on world domination? Watch an interview and decide for yourself.
Assad! I raged against Assad-killing his own people! Bloody civil war! Could I have been wrong about Assad, too? He said from the start that he was fighting foreign mercenary terrorists. As it turns out-he was, the latest metamorphosis being the bizarre ISIS. I watched some interviews. Assad speaks English and seems quite sane. He is an ophthalmologist and although people who knew him as a student say he was a nice guy, they maintain that somehow that makes him even more evil. Assad interview.
My research on Putin is covered in a previous blog. But here is an interview-decide for yourself. All three of these men are intelligent, sane and love their respective countries. But they are humans and they are politicians, with all that both of those imply. Putin speech.
Ahmadinejad is quite sincerely religious, Assad is quite moderate and rather secular, Putin is a center-right Russian Orthodox nationalist. None of them are devils-or at least no worse devils than our own leaders-and maybe less devils than SOME of ours. If you think they are devils, take it as evidence of your own brainwashing. Ahmadinejad interview.
Every one of us can do what George Carlin says:
“I do this real moron thing, and it’s called THINKING. And apparently I’m not a very good American because I like to form my own opinions.”
